Blight lights out for CdA

Nate Blight scored 21 points, including 3 of 5 from behind the arc, to lead Coeur d’Alene to a 67-54 win over Sandpoint in an Inland Empire League boys basketball game at Sandpoint.

Nate Clinton and Matt Palmer chipped in 13 points apiece for the Vikings (12-7, 7-4). Michael Henderson topped the Bulldogs (8-12, 3-9) with 18 points and nine rebounds, and Michael Brewer added 10 points and eight rebounds.

CdA will face Lake City in a loser-out game Tuesday to determine who will face Lewiston in a best-of-3 series to decide the automatic state berth. The site of the CdA-LC game will be determined tonight.

GSL boys

Max Manix notched a career-high 15 points, and Gonzaga Prep (16-3, 11-1) stayed on pace for at least a tie for first place on Thursday with a 69-23 win over Clarkston (1-18, 0-12).

WV 57, CV 48

Tyler Hobbs made eight of his 10 field-goal attempts and was 11 of 11 from the free-throw line to lead West Valley (15-4, 9-3) with 28 points.

Girls basketball

G-Prep 66, Clarkston 59

The Bullpups (17-2, 11-1) needed four players in double figures to edge the visiting Bantams (10-9, 6-6).

CV 70, WV 32

League-leading scorer Heidi Heintz topped 1,000 career points with the first basket of the game and finished with 16 as the Bears (12-7, 8-4) routed the visiting Eagles (3-16, 2-10).
