Bullpups keep pace with wins

Max Manix notched a career-high 15 points, and Gonzaga Prep (16-3, 11-1) stayed on pace for at least a tie for first place on Thursday with a 69-23 win over Clarkston.

Michael Johnson scored 14, and Beau Azadganian added 13 on 6-of-7 shooting from the field for GP. Don Perconti scored seven points to top the Bantams (1-18, 0-12), who were held to nine field goals as a team.

WV 57, CV 48

Tyler Hobbs made eight of his 10 field-goal attempts and was 11 of 11 from the free-throw line to lead West Valley (15-4, 9-3) with 28 points. Maurice Swan added 10 points for WV, who outshot Central Valley 57 percent to 30 percent from the field. Luke Clift had 20 points for the Bears (14-5, 8-4). The Eagles held a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds

G-Prep 66, Clarkston 59

The Bullpups (17-2, 11-1) needed four players in double figures to edge the visiting Bantams (10-9, 6-6). Tara Cronin scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, and GP took a step toward securing at least a tie for first place. Georgia Burke added 14 points, Sarah Jennings 13 and Laura Christianson 10. Misty Atkinson led all scorers with 24 for Clarkston, but 19 came in the first half. Patsy Dodgen-Auer picked it up after the break, scoring all 13 of her points, including four 3-point goals, in the second half.

CV 70, WV 32

League-leading scorer Heidi Heintz topped 1,000 career points with the first basket of the game and finished with 16 as the Bears (12-7, 8-4) routed the visiting Eagles (3-16, 2-10). Salena Leavitt led all scorers with 21, including 3 of 5 from beyond the arc, for CV. Krystal McCarthy paced WV with 14 points. Both teams shot 40 percent from the field, but CV converted 28 baskets to 12 for WV.
