Owls, Eagles handed upsets

Sarah-Jo Lawrence scored five of her 21 points in overtime to lead George Washington to a 55-50 win over No. 17 Temple on Friday night in Philadelphia.

Kimberly Beck had 10 points for the Colonials (19-7, 12-3 Atlantic 10), who shot 33 percent from the field.

George Washington had a chance to win the game in regulation, but Lawrence missed a shot at the buzzer. The Colonials then scored the first six points in overtime.

Candice Dupree led Temple (20-7, 11-4) with 17 points and 10 rebounds while Khadija Bowens had 13 points. Kamesha Hairston finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

N.C. State 82, (17) Boston College 71: Monica Pope scored 13 of her career-high 19 points in the second half and Gillian Goring had 12 points and nine rebounds to help the Wolfpack (17-10, 7-7 Atlantic Coast Conference) upset the Eagles (19-9, 6-7) in Boston.

Kindyll Dorsey had 18 points and Brooke Queenan scored 17 for BC, which had won five straight at home.
