New laws aid organ donation

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

POCATELLO – Idahoans who choose to donate an organ can do so starting Saturday without having to also give up part of their bank account.

That’s due to two laws that the Legislature passed earlier this year that take effect this week. The first gives all donors an Idaho income tax credit of up to $5,000 to recover expenses, such as travel, meals and lost wages. The second will allow state employees who become donors to get up to 30 days paid leave to recover from the procedure.
