Dixie sets up matchup with NIC

Third-seeded Dixie State piled up 31 points in the first 10 minutes, built a 20-point lead and went on to eliminate No. 6 Colorado Northwestern 92-65 in the Region 18 men’s basketball tournament Thursday at North Idaho College’s Christianson Gym.

Dixie (20-11) advances to face No. 2 North Idaho College (23-7) in the semifinals tonight at 8. The top-seeded NIC women (23-6) meet No. 4 Dixie (17-14) at 6.

Dixie’s Moleni Taukiuvea and Luis Augusto teamed for 33 points and 13 rebounds.

LaRon Frazier scored 22 for CNCC (4-27).

Eastern Utah 83, Snow 67: John Rogers totaled 20 points and 11 rebounds as the Golden Eagles (19-11) ousted the Badgers (10-21).

CEU’s Tyler Kepkay added 18 points. Eastern Utah will take on top-seeded Southern Idaho today at 2.

Snow’s Jake Peterson had 16 points.
