Red Baron Mini Scrambles good, not great

Pizza for breakfast?

Red Baron is tweaking the college dorm standard for breakfast tables everywhere.

The pizza maker is offering new Mini Scrambles on little deep-dish pizza crusts. Topped with eggs, cheese and either ham or sausage, the little bites can be popped into the microwave or oven.

Spokesman-Review Reader Food Panel members liked them, but they weren’t too impressed. Both flavors scored three out of five stars for flavor.

“It’s a little ham, egg and cheese pizza. Mighty tasty and filling, too,” said Skip Hubbard.

“Cute little breakfast muffin cup. Nice idea. Too bad it’s so bland. Still, hit it with a little salsa and it’d be fine,” said Donald Clegg.

Larry Inman thought the crust was a bit thick. “The crust is too chewy, but the filling is tasty. Nice for an ‘on the go,’ but I wouldn’t do it often,” he said.

“How cute!” said Marilyn Moore. “They called it ‘mini’ for a reason. Kids might go for these.”

The Red Baron Mini Scrambles can be found in the freezer case at the grocery store. Each box contains eight of the mini breakfast pizzas and sells for $3.29.
