Web “mashups” are sites that splice together content from other sources into something useful, or at least interesting.

GeoJoey is a mashup started by a young Seattle couple, Mark Maunder and Kerry Boyte. Their frisky, interactive map-and-text site says its mission is “identifying the best experiences on Earth.”

Members can import GPS data, add photos, videos or even hand-drawn maps to enhance the experience they’re describing.

Head to the Australia map and you’ll find several adventures listed, including climbing Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Worth bookmarking.

Washington’s Office of the Insurance Commissioner has a Web-based consumer guide to track complaints filed against auto, health and homeowner insurers.

The Complaint Comparison Guide gives summaries in database form from 2003 to 2005.

It tracks the volume of complaints against all the insurance firms doing business in Washington. The complaint index measures the number of consumer complaints for one company in relation to its competitors.
