HOW DO I … find podcasts

Podcasts are running wild on the Web. People are developing a wide variety of streamed or downloadable audio broadcasts covering topics from beekeeping to bulimia recovery.

Finding the podcasts out there isn’t an impossible challenge, but with everything else on the Web, the landscape constantly changes.

Here are some tips for finding podcasts:

Try iTunes.com’s Music Store and search under the podcast category.

Yahoo has its own podcast search area at http://podcasts.yahoo.com.

Podcast Alley keeps track of cool and innovative podcasters. It also ranks popular casts and offers a useful Podcast Alley blog to track new developments.

Another useful site is Podzinger. Not as inclusive as others, Podzinger nevertheless has the unusual value of finding specific references to a topic within a podcast. And it goes the extra step of helping find the exact spot in a podcast where the topic occurs. Try searching “Spokane” or “Coeur d’Alene” and see what comes up.
