Parks for the dogs and slacker jobs for the lazy dogs

D.F. Oliveria spokesman.com/blogs/hbo

So, Spokane County has opened its first dog park – at the old Washington rest stop near the state line? La-de-da, sez CdA’s Eric Seaman. Quoth he: Coeur d’Alene “is loaded with dog parks. In fact the entire county has them all over the place.” Eric goes on to list local “dog parks”: McEuen Field, Tubbs Hill, Canfield ball fields, the soccer fields at Coeur d’Alene Place, Phippeny Park at Seventh & Montana. “Heck,” sez Eric, “any at all parks are dog parks here in CDA.” Eric, of course, is talking about “dog parks” by default (read: almost all local parks because there’s little or no enforcement of “no-dogs-allowed” or leash laws). ‘Tis been awhile since Your Huckleberry Hound circled Tubbs Hill. But I always count the dogs on leashes or not when I hike Tubbs Hill. It runs about half and half. A targeted dog sting might throw the fear of God into scofflaw owners. Or Kootenai County could build a dog park, like Spokane has, even if Eric isn’t cuh-razy about the idea. Eric: “Why waste money building actual dog parks when the city has piles of them (no pun intended)?” Good question.

“When a Center Partners employment survey asked, “What makes a job an enjoyable place to work?” an anonymous new hire answered: “Laid back, casual dress code, not so strict, & has games.” Blogger Nicholas Casey/Rants, Raves & Random Thoughts translated that to mean: “I want a job where I don’t have to work.” And suggested: “Go work for minimum wage at a seasonal employer (i.e., Triple Play or Silverwood).” Next applicant.
