SCOPE recognizes volunteers

The Spokesman-Review

Several SCOPE volunteers were honored at an Oct. 10 Spokane County Sheriff’s banquet, and one volunteer was singled out for extra recognition.

The Sheriff’s Star Award, given at the sheriff’s discretion, was given to SCOPE Volunteer Hal Halverson, who joined the SCOPE program in 1998.

Halverson works at the sheriff’s front desk two or three days each week and takes a good attitude to his job, said spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan.

“Hal willingly gives of himself and his time, and his dedication and commitment to SCOPE and the sheriff’s office is truly appreciated by those of us who benefit from his spirit of volunteerism,” Reagan said.

Awards also were given to other outstanding volunteers.
