CCS women score soccer victory

Steffannii Johnson scored two first-half goals to lead Community Colleges of Spokane’s women’s soccer team to a 5-1 win over Tacoma Thursday afternoon in NWAACC play.

Lindsay Hood and Katlyn Laughlin finished with one goal and one assist each for the Sasquatch (2-2-0, 2-0-0). Lindsey Jacobs opened the scoring for CCS in the 22nd minute.

Katie Ginther scored Tacoma goal in the 89th minute off a corner kick from Anna Roselli.

CCS outshot Tacoma (1-2-1, 0-1-0) 19-10, including a 15-3 shot advantage in the first half.

Volleyball

Cassie Duncan had 12 kills and 15 digs and CCS (0-1, 0-1) fell 22-30, 30-26, 30-18, 30-26 to visiting Walla Walla in NWAACC play.

Jennifer Muzzall led Walla Walla (7-1, 1-0) with 18 kills.

Cross country

Gonzaga men’s and women’s teams have both been picked to finish fifth in the West Coast Conference in the coaches’ poll.

The Portland men and women were picked to repeat as conference champions.
