Candidate to start campaign in Montana

The Spokesman-Review

One candidate for Idaho governor is campaigning in Montana.

The candidate formerly known as Marvin “Pro-Life” Richardson, who last week legally changed his name to just “Pro-Life,” has launched a campaign tour – starting in Missoula.

The Constitution Party candidate for governor, an ardent anti-abortion activist, said he plans to start campaigning at the University of Montana in Missoula, where he hopes to persuade women not to have abortions. He’ll then continue his campaign tour into Idaho Falls and through eastern Idaho.

On the ballot – which was printed before the candidate’s latest name change – he’s still shown by his former name, Marvin Richardson. He faces Libertarian candidate Ted Dunlap, Democrat Jerry Brady and Republican Butch Otter in the race for governor.

Credit union to offer free shredding

Numerica Credit Union will shred people’s personal documents Saturday for free as part of an effort to highlight the risk of identity theft and fraud. Individuals can get up to 50 pounds of papers shredded between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Coeur d’Alene branch on U.S. Highway 95.

The event is coordinated in conjunction with Data Base-Secure Records Destruction. After destroying sensitive paperwork, the company transports it to a recycling center so it can return to the marketplace as paper and other products.

According to the Federal Trade Commission, 10 million U.S. citizens become victims of identity theft each year.

Law enforcement officials also will be at the credit union branch Saturday with their Operation Family I.D. Program. This program allows parents to record their child’s photo and other vital information in a format that police can use in an emergency.

Numerica also will hold a free identity theft seminar Oct. 5, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Numerica Training Center in Spokane. Call (509) 462-6176 to sign up.
