Woman arrested in two stabbings

Two people were stabbed Saturday night in separate incidents but apparently by the same woman.

Murphy M. Wildshoe, 39, was arrested by Spokane police in connection with the attacks and booked into the Spokane County Jail.

Police initially responded to a stabbing report in the area of Interstate 90 and Division at about 7:40 p.m. A witness reported that her friend had been stabbed in the back but that she had left the area. Police found the woman a few blocks away and she was taken to a hospital and released Sunday afternoon, police spokesman Tim Moses said.

Officers responding to a separate domestic violence call found a man with a superficial stab wound at the Knickerbocker Apartments in the 500 block of South Howard at about 8:15 p.m. Police realized that Wildshoe was allegedly the suspect in both stabbings.

The man was treated at the scene, Moses said.

Pair hospitalized after car hits moose

Two people were hospitalized Saturday night when an Athol man hit a moose near Garwood on U.S. Highway 95, causing a two-vehicle accident and blocking traffic for four hours.

Michael A. Prusek, 18, of Athol was driving south in a Subaru Impreza when he struck the moose about 8 p.m., according to an Idaho State Police report. His car was then rear-ended by Randolph Epps, 49, of Roseburg, Ore., who was driving a Chevy pickup and flatbed trailer. Prusek’s car careened off the west shoulder while Epps’ pickup went off the east shoulder of the highway.

Crews had to extricate Prusek’s passenger, Alexandra M. Schwappach, 18, of New Mexico, from the car. Both Prusek and Schwappach were taken to Kootenai Medical Center.

Prusek wasn’t wearing a seat belt but Schwappach was, according to the report.

Epps and his passenger were not injured. Both wore seat belts. Highway 95 was blocked for four hours between state Highway 53 and Garwood Road.

Knives brandished in robbery at house

Alleged retaliation for a drug deal gone bad led to a house robbery Saturday afternoon involving knives.

Nobody was injured in the dispute at the house in the 100 block of East Montgomery that resulted in the arrest of Jeremy M. Sundheim, 35, on suspicion of first-degree robbery and burglary.

Spokane police were looking for two robbers Sunday along with up to $1,000 in stolen property including a computer hard drive, 19-inch monitor and digital video camera, police spokesman Tim Moses said.

Police responded to the house about 3:50 p.m. The victim and witnesses were attacked with knives. Preliminary investigation shows the robbers possibly knew the victim and the crime was retaliation, a police press release said. Anyone with information is asked to call the Spokane Police Department.
