Former Vandal DeMulling signs with Colts

Free-agent offensive lineman Rick DeMulling from Cheney has signed a one-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts, the team that drafted him in 2001, his agent said Monday.

DeMulling, a former University of Idaho Vandal, signed with the Super Bowl champions so he could enjoy the game again, his agent said. The seventh-round pick started 41 games for the Colts before becoming an unrestricted free agent and signing a two-year deal with Detroit after the 2004 season.

“Indianapolis Colts defensive end Darrell Reid was arrested during the weekend on suspicion of possessing marijuana, borough police said.

“The Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears will meet in the preseason, a Super Bowl rematch highlighting the NFL’s exhibition schedule.

Texans re-sign eight

The Houston Texans re-signed eight players, including defensive back Dexter McCleon, a cornerback who appeared in every game last season and had 28 tackles and one interception.

The Texans also re-signed receiver David Anderson, tackle Scott Jackson, tight end Ben Steele, defensive end Earl Cochran and defensive tackles Tim Bulman, Anthony Maddox and Alfred Malone.

Arizona adds Gandy

The Arizona Cardinals helped fill a big hole on the offensive line by signing free agent Mike Gandy to a three-year contract.

Frost returning to Washington

Punter Derrick Frost re-signed with the Washington Redskins.

Frost averaged 42.9 yards per punt last season, with a net average of 36.7.
