Work restricts traffic on 29th

Traffic on 29th Avenue from Southeast Boulevard to Ray Street is reduced to one lane in each direction through May as asphalt is removed and a new 12-inch water main is installed as part of the 29th Avenue rehabilitation project that began Monday.

The three-month, $2 million project from Southeast Boulevard to Freya Street includes full curb-to-curb rehabilitation, installation of curb ramps where necessary, replacement of a 36-inch water main between Southeast Boulevard and Fiske Street, and a 12-inch water main between Mt. Vernon and Ray streets. Some modifications also will be made to the signals at 29th Avenue and Regal Street. Businesses will remain open.

Meetings to discuss the project’s progress are held every Thursday at 8 a.m. at Applebee’s, 2007 E. 29th Ave.
