Smiles become snarls at art show

A not-so-funny thing happened to a Post Falls reader at Art on the Green on Sunday. The place was packed, of course. Art lovers had to turn their shoulders to pass one another as they browsed the myriad booths. Now, let’s complete the scene by tossing into the mix a pit bull and a Seasoned Citizen using a walker. Seems the pit bull viewed the walker as some kind of threat and growled, prompting spectators to catch their breaths and the old-timer to scurry away as fast as he could. Which wasn’t that fast. He almost fell. “Luckily,” reported Post Falls Reader, “the pit bull was on a choke chain, and the owner quickly jerked the dog up into the air and said, ‘Stop.’ The dog didn’t bite anyone so I guess the owner felt it was OK. In fact, he calmly resumed his conversation with the artist in the tent!” Post Falls Reader admitted that he wanted to give Clueless Dog Owner a piece of his mind. But his wife held him back (without the use of a choke chain), reasoning that he, at age 63, was no match for a pit bull and its clueless owner. In summary, Post Falls Reader told Huckleberries: “The idea of having a pit bull in the middle of a crowd is just dumb and dangerous to me.” Post Falls Reader and his wife left shortly afterward, their day ruined by Clueless Dog Owner and his snarling mutt. And you wonder why we have a bunch of laws that wouldn’t be needed if everyone had common sense?
