Phillies 11, Marlins 1: At Philadelphia, Ryan Howard homered twice to back Jamie Moyer and the Phillies got the victory over Florida. Moyer allowed one run and five hits in six innings, and also had an RBI double.

Braves 7, Mets 3: At New York, Matt Diaz hit a solo home run and Jeff Francoeur added a three-run shot as Atlanta defeated the Mets. Buddy Carlyle allowed three runs and six hits in five innings to get the win.

Reds 4, Dodgers 0: At Cincinnati, Bronson Arroyo pitched into the seventh inning, helping the Reds end their nine-game losing streak against Los Angeles with the victory.

Astros 5, Cubs 2: At Houston, Craig Biggio drove in the go-ahead run in a four-run sixth inning and the Astros got the victory over Chicago.

Padres 4, Cardinals 0: At St. Louis, Jake Peavy extended his scoreless streak to 19 innings and San Diego got its major league-leading 16th shutout of the season in a victory over the Cardinals.

Pirates 8, Diamondbacks 3: At Phoenix, Tom Gorzelanny, pitching for the first time since July 25, struck out a career-high nine in seven innings to lead Pittsburgh to a victory over Arizona.

Rockies 11, Brewers 4: At Denver, Todd Helton hit two home runs and Colorado handed Milwaukee its third straight loss. Helton went 3 for 5 with four RBIs.

Nationals 8, Giants 6: At San Francisco, Felipe Lopez hit a tiebreaking double in the eighth inning and Washington overcame Barry Bonds’ 756th career home run to beat the Giants.
