Meet your Neighbor

Carl Gidlund Correspondent

Name: Benjamin “Benji” Lee

Age: 27

Hometown: I was born in Omaha, Neb., but moved to Dalton Gardens when I was 1. I’ve lived in Coeur d’Alene since 1981.

Occupation: I’m an independent film and video maker. I’m for hire.

Family: I’m single, and most of my immediate family lives in Coeur d’Alene. I’m the third of eight children.

Hobbies: I’m an avid gardener, and I love to dance the Lindy Hop and ballroom.

What do you like about North Idaho? It’s absolutely beautiful. I spent two years on a mission in Southern California and that gave me a deep appreciation for where I live.

What do you like or dislike about the current season? First of all, I love the changing seasons and really like snow at Christmas. But this time of year is great. The flowers are gorgeous.

Favorite music: I like all kinds, but especially the ‘40s and ‘50s big bands.

Favorite TV show: I really don’t watch television.

Favorite movie: “Avalon”

Favorite spot in North Idaho? Why? One of my favorite places is the east end of the St. Joe River. My family goes there every year. It’s old-growth forest – missed by the 1910 fire in that area – and the cedars are beautiful. And, it’s accessible.
