Judge approves Jones’ participation

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

Adam “Pacman” Jones can appear at a wrestling show today, with a couple of provisions: The suspended Tennessee Titans cornerback won’t be allowed to touch or be touched, use or be hit by any object or anything else that could injure him.

But at least he can be present for the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling pay-per-view event. The arrangement was approved by a Tennessee judge Saturday following an agreement among the Titans, Jones’ attorney and lawyers for TNA Entertainment.

The Titans received a temporary restraining order Friday that prohibited Jones – suspended from the NFL for the 2007 season for violating the personal conduct policy – from even being present at a TNA event.

With Jones promoted to appear at the “Hard Justice” show tonight in Orlando, Fla., lawyers worked to resolve the Titans’ concerns. Judge Jeff Bivins approved the deal following a 10-minute meeting in his chambers. Jones did not attend.

Jets’ Clemens impresses

Kellen Clemens stepped to the podium and asked if he was standing in the right spot.

The New York Jets’ backup quarterback isn’t used to postgame news conferences, but his performance against the Atlanta Falcons had everybody talking.

Clemens, in his second season with the Jets, staked a major claim to the backup job to Chad Pennington with the best game of his young NFL career. He went 16 of 22 for 174 yards and three touchdowns in a 31-16 victory Friday night.

Walker still has shirt

Denver Broncos wide receiver Javon Walker says he still has the bloodied shirt from the night teammate Darrent Williams died in his arms after a drive-by shooting on New Year’s Day.

In his first public comments about Williams’ unsolved death, Walker tells HBO’s “Real Sports” in a segment to be aired Tuesday night that he keeps the unlaundered shirt as a reminder of his friend and of the fragility of life.

Around the league

Tennessee quarterback Vince Young sat out the exhibition with the Washington Redskins, and coach Jeff Fisher said the punishment was for violating an unspecified team rule. … The NFL has suspended backup defensive end Anthony Hargrove of the Buffalo Bills without pay for the first four games of the season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. … Denver Broncos linebacker Warrick Holdman has been advised by doctors not to play football for three months after suffering a spinal cord concussion in a collision with a teammate last week.
