Cubs 7, Nationals 2: At Washington, Alfonso Soriano had two hits, a run, an RBI and a stolen base in Chicago’s victory over the Nationals. Ted Lilly allowed only three hits over seven innings for the Cubs.

Brewers 10, Pirates 3: At Pittsburgh, backup catcher Damian Miller homered twice during a four-hit night, including a grand slam in Milwaukee’s seven-run seventh inning, and his seven RBIs matched a club record as the Brewers beat the Pirates.

Astros 7, Phillies 5: At Houston, Hunter Pence hit a two-run homer and the Astros scored twice in the seventh inning on bases-loaded walks in a victory over Philadelphia. Carlos Lee had an RBI single and a towering solo homer for the Astros.

Cardinals 11, Diamondbacks 3: At St. Louis, Albert Pujols hit a tiebreaking, two-run single in the seventh inning and Scott Rolen had four RBIs to lead the Cardinals to a victory over Arizona.

Rockies 6, Mets 2: At Denver, Matt Holliday homered and Jason Hirsh threw six shutout innings before spraining his right ankle as Colorado got the victory over New York. Hirsh allowed three hits, walked one and struck out two.

Padres 3, Marlins 1: At San Diego, David Wells beat Sergio Mitre in a matchup of hometown pitchers and Brian Giles scored twice on fielder’s choices to give the Padres a win over Florida.

Dodgers 8, Braves 2: At Los Angeles, Matt Kemp had three RBIs including a tiebreaking two-run homer, and first-time All-Star Russell Martin had a career-high four hits to lead the Dodgers to the win over Atlanta.
