In brief: Brush up on hula hoop skills

The Spokesman-Review

Participants of all ages are encouraged to participate in a hula hooping clinic Sunday at North Idaho College.

The Hooping on the Beach clinic will explore the use of the 1950s toy as a modern dance and exercise tool. Unique, handcrafted hula hoops will also be available for sale.

The clinic will begin at 7 p.m. on NIC’s Yap-Keehn-Um Beach. It is free and open to the public and equipment will be provided.

If the event is well attended, subsequent clinics will be held in August and September. For more information, call 769-7809.

Library getting upgrade

An upgrade of the software used to track circulation services for the Coeur d’Alene Public Library – and other libraries in Cooperative Information Network – will affect some library operations Tuesday through Thursday.

The Washington Information Network that manages the CIN computer network through a server at Gonzaga University will upgrade the Voyager software used by the library to check items in and out, arrange for holds, and to manage patron records and requests.

During the upgrade the libraries’ computer catalogs will not be available online or at library computers. Patrons will be able to check out items but will not be able to place holds or arrange for the delivery of materials from other libraries. The upgrade will not affect interlibrary loan requests submitted by phone or in person.
