Great job everyone, on SVGSA

A great big “Thank You” to all the dedicated people who have made the Spokane Valley girls softball league so successful for these past 40 years.

It’s wonderful to drive to the girls’ softball complex at Wellesley and Sullivan on a summer evening and see the large parking lots filled with cars. Proud parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles sit on folding chairs along the baselines cheering on their daughters and their team. Little brothers and sisters play tag with newfound friends.

In other words, it’s a great picture of life in America on a summer night.

Because of the many volunteers over the years (many who have volunteered for more than 15 years) the league has probably the lowest registration fee of any youth sports league. Yet the girls have uniforms, they play on beautifully maintained and lined diamonds (grass for the little ones), and uniformed, trained umpires officiate.

So once again, a big “Thank You” to all the great volunteers who have given their time so unselfishly to the girls of the Valley for these 40 years. You’ve given the girls some very special summer memories.
