Man loses consciousness in attack at bar

A 22-year-old Fairchild Air Force Base resident was kicked into unconsciousness early Sunday outside Spokane Valley’s Goodtymes Pub.

Spokane County Sheriff’s detectives were still looking Monday for the two assailants, who also assaulted a friend of the victim. Officers responded to a call from a taxi driver who witnessed the attack in the parking lot of the bar, 9214 E. Mission Ave.

The driver reported seeing two men knock the man to the ground and stomp three to five times on his head.

When the victim regained consciousness several minutes later, one man kicked him in the head, knocking him unconscious again.

The two men punched the victim’s friend in the face when he tried to stop them, said Spokane County Sheriff’s Sgt. Dave Reagan.

Reagan said the motive is unknown.

The victim was taken to Spokane Valley Medical Center, where he was treated Sunday and released Monday.

A Fairchild Air Force Base spokesman was unable to confirm Monday whether the man was was on active duty.

The two attackers left the bar in a black Chevrolet, perhaps a Caprice, with two to four other men inside.

One attacker was described as a 5-foot-9, 160-pound white man in his early 20s. He was wearing khaki cargo pants or shorts, white sneakers, a black do-rag and no shirt. He had tattoos on at least one arm and a goatee. The second man was also white, but no other description was given.

Sheriff’s detectives ask anyone with information to call (509) 242-TIPS.
