Achievements: WSU honors students from Spokane area

The following students have been awarded University Achievement Awards by Washington State University for the 2007-2008 academic year:

Alex Dach of Medical Lake received a $6,000 award. The son of Larry and Susan Dach of Medical Lake, he will graduate in June from Medical Lake High School.

Mariko Yamamoto of Spokane received a $2,000 award. She will graduate from Ferris High School in June and is the daughter of Mark and Sheila Yamamoto of Spokane.

Kacie Klein of Spokane received a $1,000 award. The daughter of Harry and Rita Klein of Spokane, she will graduate from Ferris High School in June.

Jessica Dixon of Spokane received a $1,000 award and also was awarded a $2,000 academic scholarship. She will graduate from Lewis and Clark High School in June and is the daughter of Jim and Terry Dixon of Spokane.

Kathleen Flynn of Spokane received a $2,000 award. She is a senior at Lewis and Clark High School and the daughter of Thomas and Diane Flynn of Spokane.

“ Eastern Washington University recently announced the following recipients of Presidential scholarships for the 2007-2008 academic year:

Shephani Wethington of Spokane received a $2,000 award. She will graduate from Cheney High School in June and is the daughter of Bret and Staci Gardner of Spokane.

Emmily Eisenrich of Spokane was awarded $2,000. The daughter of Earl and Sharon Eisenrich of Spokane, she is a senior at Lewis and Clark High School.

Kelsey Rickard of Spokane received a $2,000 award. She is a senior at Lewis and Clark High School and is the daughter of Ronald and Maureen Rickard of Spokane.

Klarissa Neubauer of Spokane was awarded $2,000. She is a senior at Cheney High School.

Brian Head of Spokane was awarded $2,000. The son of Mark and Sandy Head of Spokane, he will graduate from Lewis and Clark High School in June.

Jason Myers of Spokane received a $2,000 award. He will graduate from Ferris High School in June and is the son of Wayne and Christine Myers of Spokane.

Jeffrey Burkert, a senior at Lewis and Clark High School, has been named one of 550 semifinalists in the 2007 Presidential Scholars program. Selection of the scholars will be made by the Commission on Presidential Scholars and will be announced in May.
