DC Kids need your help

The Spokesman-Review

A new crop of Rathdrum’s DC Kids are already busy earning money for their trip to Washington, D.C., and New York City next summer. They are hoping you will hire a couple of them to help with an odd job or two.

The kids began looking for jobs in the community a couple of weeks ago. So far, they have helped stack wood, lift heavy objects and raked a lot of leaves and pine needles. According to parent Ana Schnepf, the customers were primarily senior citizens who were really appreciative.

“The work was really a win-win for the kids and the clientele – the kids began feeling good about themselves and focused more on being helpful than on making money,” Schnepf said.

Schnepf said the kids are eager to find more jobs. Watch for announcements of future work weekends, or call anytime and they will do their best to find someone to help rake those leaves, or shovel snow. The cost is $20 per hour for two eighth-grade students and an adult supervisor. Call 755-4043 to schedule a work group.

A spaghetti feed and auction benefiting the DC Kids will be held on Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Lakeland Junior High. Tickets cost $5 per person. A silent auction will be held throughout the evening.

Lakes Bible kids attend speech meet

Sasha Westly competed in the poetry event with her presentation of “The Adventures of Isabel” receiving a Superior Award.
