Field goal keeps No. 13 Hawaii unbeaten

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

Dan Kelly kicked a 45-yard field goal with 11.7 seconds left to keep No. 13 Hawaii undefeated with a 28-26 victory over Nevada on Friday night at Reno, Nev.

Tyler Graunke, playing in place of star quarterback Colt Brennan, passed for 358 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a third for the Warriors (10-0, 7-0 in the Western Athletic Conference).

Kelly made the field goal twice, but Nevada coach Chris Ault had called a timeout just before the first one wobbled over the crossbar. Kelly’s second one sailed down the middle far above the goal posts to extend the NCAA’s longest winning streak to 11.

Luke Lippincott ran for 140 yards and a touchdown for the Wolf Pack (5-5, 3-3), who had taken the lead 26-25 on his 5-yard TD run with 8:27 left in the game.

Griz go for Big Sky sweep

The University of Montana football team can take an unblemished record into the FCS playoffs with a win over rival Montana State today, while a win by the Bobcats would simply make their season.

The 107th meeting of the two teams is set to kick off at 12:37 p.m. (MST) in Bozeman.

No. 3 Montana (10-0, 7-0 Big Sky) is looking for its second consecutive sweep of league teams and its first unbeaten regular season since 1996.

Montana State (6-4, 4-3) would take some pride into the off-season with an upset of the league champions.
