The Spokane Chiefs completed play at the Everett Silvertips preseason tournament with a perfect record, defeating the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-1 Sunday in a Western Hockey League exhibition.

Drayson Bowman scored two goals for the Chiefs, who outscored their opponents 13-4 in three games.

Men’s soccer

Whitworth (0-1-1) and Southwestern University played to a scoreless tie in San Antonio as Scott Barnum picked up his first career shutout for the Pirates with six saves.

Women’s soccer

Kaylyn Plum (East Valley) scored with just over five minutes to play, lifting Whitworth to a 2-1 victory over 9th-ranked Trinity at San Antonio. Whitworth was outshot 19-6, including a 9-4 disadvantage in shots on goal, but Krista Dietz made eight saves to help the Pirates.

“Senior Christine Soma scored the lone goal of the match as Gonzaga defeated Montana 1-0. Jessie Thalman had four saves for her first win of the season and the seventh shutout of the sophomore’s career.

“Temple defeated Eastern Washington 3-2 in double overtime at the NAU Mountain Classis in Flagstaff, Ariz.

Chelsey Hannesson and Cyeeta Mott scored for the Eagles.

“North Idaho College defeated NJCAA 10th-ranked Illinois Central 2-1. McKenzie Favero and Jennifer Putnam scored for the Cardinals.
