Sorority rape suspect posts bail, freed

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

The second suspect in last week’s rape and burglaries in Pullman posted bail Thursday and is out of Whitman County Jail, a jail official confirmed.

Christopher Jack Reid, 25, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to second-degree rape and burglary charges. Whitman County Superior Court Judge David Frazier set Reid’s bail at $200,000.

Reid’s attorney, Chris A. Bugbee, did not return a phone message Thursday, but he has said that Reid would return to his home in the Los Angeles area if he was able to afford bail.

The other suspect, Kyle M. Schott, appeared in court Monday and posted $100,000 bail. He is out of jail and is scheduled for arraignment today.

Schott and Reid are accused of breaking into the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority at Washington State University early on Sept. 13 and sexually assaulting a woman while she slept. They also are accused of burglarizing two other sororities and attempting to break into a fraternity.

Reid is an adult film actor in Los Angeles.
