Orthodox churches will pray for Spokane River

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1703 N. Washington St., Christ the Savior Greek Orthodox Church in Spokane Valley and St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church in Post Falls will offer a blessing of the Spokane River Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

Members of the churches will meet at Boulder Beach on Upriver Drive, 1.2 miles east of Argonne (mile marker 16 on the Centennial Trail).

The service will include the prayers and hymns of the Great Blessing of Water, composed by St. Sophronios, patriarch of Jerusalem.

Holy Trinity will also offer a question-and-answer session about the Orthodox Christian Faith Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Money management

New Heights Church, 708 W. Nora Ave., will offer a three-week series of sermons discussing the biblical view of money Sunday and Jan. 13 and 20 at 10 a.m.

The teachings will discuss passages from the letters in eight chapters of the Gospel from Matthew, Mark and Luke.

The church will also offer a free financial management seminar at 6 p.m. each of these nights in the church’s education building.

‘The Great Warming,’ a film

First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar St., will present the film, “The Great Warming,” a documentary narrated by Alanis Morrissette and Keanu Reeves, Monday at 7 p.m.

The film is presented by the Creation Care Group-Global Concerns.
