Wings handle Canucks

Henrik Zetterberg scored the only goal of the shootout to lift the host Detroit Red Wings to a 3-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.

Dan Cleary scored twice for Detroit in regulation and Dominik Hasek made 26 saves. The NHL-leading Red Wings snapped a three-game skid.

Stars 4, Sharks 2: At San Jose, Calif., Mike Modano scored his second goal with 7:06 left, and Dallas beat the slumping Sharks.

Canadiens 3, Thrashers 2 (SO): Andrei Kostitsyn scored with a brilliant move in the second period, then came through again in the shootout to lead Montreal past host Atlanta.

Senators 5, Hurricanes 1: Antoine Vermette had two goals, and Martin Gerber made 36 saves to lead host Ottawa over Carolina.

Maple Leafs 3, Bruins 2 (SO): Mats Sundin and Alex Steen scored shootout goals and Toronto snapped a six-game road losing streak with a win over host Boston.

Capitals 5, Oilers 4 (SO): At Washington, Matt Bradley scored after 11 other Caps missed in the shootout to lift his team over Edmonton.

Blue Jackets 4, Coyotes 3: At Glendale, Ariz., Rick Nash scored with 21.5 seconds left to lift Columbus over Phoenix.

Ducks 2, Predators 1: At Nashville, Tenn., Brandon Bochenski and Corey Perry scored goals and Anaheim beat the Predators.
