Driver runs over, kills man in Moscow parking lot

Thomas Clouse Staff writer

Moscow, Idaho, police detectives are piecing together the events that led to a fatal hit-and-run in the Corner Club parking lot.

Kristian Lee Nelson, 50, was run over Wednesday and died from his injuries. No charges have been filed against the driver.

Officers responded to the Corner Club at noon Wednesday on a report of an unconscious man who had been hit by a vehicle, Assistant Chief David Duke said in a news release.

They found Nelson with massive trauma to his chest and legs. Emergency crews transported Nelson to Gritman Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Witnesses told police Nelson had been drinking at the bar before he walked out and lay down in the parking lot near the alley.

A red 1998 Dodge Durango was heading south in the alley and turned right into the bar’s parking lot. The Durango ran over Nelson as he lay prone, Duke said.

The driver, who was not identified by police, left the scene, and the Durango was located in a parking lot north of the bar.

“The driver has been identified, and the investigation is ongoing into the events of the collision,” Duke said.
