Developer told to scale back project

The Spokesman-Review

A development company has been told to stick with its original, scaled-down plan – or something similar – for a subdivision at the northeast corner of Flora Road and Boone Avenue.

Spokane Valley Hearing Examiner Michael Dempsey last week denied LewRad Development’s request to rezone the five-acre Summerset Estates site and approve a preliminary plat for 30 single-family homes.

Instead, Dempsey approved a less-permissive zone change for a four-acre portion of the site and a preliminary plat for 20 single-family lots – as the developer proposed in September 2007.

Alternately, Dempsey ruled, LewRad may have a similar 20-lot subdivision on the four acres and a maximum of five lots on the remaining acre.

Council retreat Saturday

Everyone is invited to Spokane Valley City Councilman Dick Denenny’s lake place Saturday.

The catch is that “guests” have to keep quiet and listen to whatever city officials want to say in the course of six hours. It’s the council’s midyear retreat, not a barbecue.

The public session will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 29897 N. Isle View Road, near Spirit Lake, Idaho.
