Errant moose relocated to Mount Spokane

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

Washington state wildlife agents tranquilized a moose that wandered into an RV parking lot east of Spokane, just off I-90 at the Barker Road exit.

A Fish and Wildlife Department spokeswoman, Madonna Luers, said the 2-year-old female was loaded into a horse trailer Monday and hauled to a remote area on the east side of Mount Spokane.

Luers said agents have to escort or move about a dozen moose a year that get in the way in Spokane County. She said this moose had to be tranquilized because it was too close to the interstate.

Luers said it was moved to an area with good habitat. “Hopefully she’ll stay up there and be a moose,” she said.
