NCAA tourney tickets scarce for WSU, GU

NCAA tournament tickets for Washington State and Gonzaga men’s basketball fans will be scarce if their teams receive berths.

About 300 tickets will be available to the public for WSU’s first- and second-round games, and 50 of those are set aside for students. Members of the Zzu Cru fan organization will have first dibs on the student tickets, and university donors will have access to the other 250.

Donors are allotted four tickets apiece and students can claim one.

At Gonzaga, 450 tickets will be available, with a minimum of 45 to students. Based on the university’s priority system for donors, benefactors can purchase four tickets or two. Students can buy one.

Until the NCAA announces Sunday in which of the eight cities WSU and Gonzaga would play their first-round games, ticket costs are up in the air. The universities will call donors and students Sunday evening, and possibly Monday morning, to set up sales.

General tickets to the NCAA games are available through various ticket outlets. The first- and second-round venues are: Anaheim, Calif.; Birmingham, Ala.; Denver; Little Rock, Ark.; Omaha, Neb.; Raleigh, N.C.; Tampa, Fla.; and Washington, D.C.
