Kidane, Miller propel CC Spokane

Are Kidane scored 90 seconds into the game and Mat Miller scored 97 seconds later to lift Community Colleges of Spokane (6-6-2, 6-4-1) to a 2-1 NWAACC men’s soccer win over Walla Walla on Tuesday afternoon at Spokane Falls Community College.

Josh Peck stopped WWCC (8-0-3, 7-0-3) until allowing a goal in the final minute.

Women’s soccer

Katie Lucas set up the first goal and scored two second-half goals to lead Walla Walla (14-0-0, 12-0-0) to a 5-0 NWAACC win over CCS (3-9-3, 2-8-3) at SFCC.

Men’s golf

CCS and freshman Kyler Gable (Coeur d’Alene) fell short in the Walla Walla Invitational at the Wildhorse Golf Resort in Pendleton, Ore.

The Sasquatch had a two-round total of 572, one shot behind the hosts after leading by one with a 5-under-par 283 after the first round. Gable had matching rounds of 2-under 70s, coming up just shy of Kris Jackson of Bellevue, who opened with a 66 and followed with a 70.

Women’s golf

Chelsea Kenner finished third and Katie Sorenson was fourth to lead CCS to a second-place finish in the Walla Walla invitational at Pendleton, six shots behind Green River.

The Sasquatch shot consistent rounds of 258 and 256. Kenner went 82-85–167, five shots behind the winner. Sorenson was another five shots back after rounds of 85 and 87.

•Gonzaga placed fifth at the Bronco Fall Invitational at SpurWing Country Club in Meridian, Idaho, four shots behind the four-way tie for first.

Sage Suffecool finished third and Stephanie Corey tied for fourth to lead the Zags. Suffecool shot 72-74 to finish six shots behind the winner and one better than her teammate.

Basketball

Tickets for the West Coast Conference tournaments go on sale at 11 a.m. today. Both the men and women will play at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. Tickets ($135 for 14 games) can be purchased through the box office at 1-888-234-2334.
