‘Minor tsunami’ closes Lake Roosevelt campground

The Spokesman-Review
The Porcupine Bay campground on Lake Roosevelt will be closed for at least a few days while docks and other equipment are repaired. The campground’s docks, swim platform and swim barriers were damaged by a wave that the National Park Service is calling a “minor tsunami.” The 8-to-12-foot-high wave was caused by a landslide on the opposite shoreline Tuesday, according to a news release today. Park Service officials will decide Thursday whether to reopen the campground for the weekend. The landslide occurred about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on Spokane Tribe land.
