NORTH INDIAN TRAIL – WineStyles, 8801 N. Indian Trail Road, will host an open house and wine tasting event on Saturday, from noon to 8 p.m.

The cost is $15 per person. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Breast Cancer 3-Day, part of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization. Donations are appreciated.

Girl Scouts offer women’s weekend

COEUR D’ALENE – The Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and North Idaho will have a Women’s Weekend Sept. 11-13 at Camp Four Echoes on Lake Coeur d’Alene.

The weekend is a festival of outdoor activities, including classes in belly dancing, martini making, yoga and Pilates, along with crafts, food, wine and female camaraderie.

The cost is $160 per woman and includes cabin camping, all meals, beverages and activities. Funds raised benefit Girl Scout programs.

Weightlifter earns medals, award

Spokane – Danna Snow, of Spokane, recently competed in the IPF Pan Am Powerlifting Championships and NAPF Powerlifting Championships in Miami and won two gold medals and the Masters 1 Champion of Champions award.

The 5-foot-3-inch, 120-pound Snow had the following results: squat: 242.5 pounds; bench press: 181.75 pounds; deadlift: 319.5 pounds; total 743.75 pounds.

MANITO – The Friends of Manito Park will hold a $5 blowout fall plant sale on Saturday in Manito Park, east of the Gaiser Conservatory, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Members may begin shopping at 8 a.m.All proceeds from the plant sale will help pay for improvements to Manito Park.

Bicycle, pedestrian counters wanted

SPOKANE – The city of Spokane is looking for volunteers to help count bicyclists and pedestrians this fall. The city will use the data when applying for funding for bicycle and pedestrian improvements.

The program, known as the Washington State Bicycle and Pedestrian Documentation Project, is in its second year and is done in major urban areas statewide through a grant from the Washington state Department of Transportation, with help from the Cascade Bicycle Club of Seattle.

Counts will be conducted Sept. 29 through Oct. 1. Volunteers are needed for a weekday morning from 7 to 9 and a weekday afternoon from 4 to 6. An additional count may be added on Oct. 3 from noon to 3 p.m.
