Requested The New York Knicks say Aaron Goodwin, the agent for Nate Robinson, has asked the team to trade the recently benched guard. A team spokesman says the request was made Saturday and that team president Donnie Walsh will have discussions with Goodwin.

Sidelined Guard Allen Iverson missed his second straight game for Philadelphia because of arthritis in his left knee. Philadelphia 76ers coach Eddie Jordan made the announcement before Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers, saying Iverson will not return until Philadelphia’s game against Portland on Dec. 28 at the earliest.

•After playing in pain most of the season, Miami left tackle Jason Fox finally succumbed to the inevitable. The 14th-ranked Hurricanes’ MVP for 2009 will miss the Champs Sports Bowl against No. 24 Wisconsin on Dec. 29 after having surgery on his left knee.

Extended Third baseman Scott Rolen agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Cincinnati Reds that guarantees him an additional $13 million while converting almost half of his 2010 salary to a deferred signing bonus. The deal, which runs through 2012, clears payroll room for the Reds. Rolen missed time with a concussion last season, batting .305 with 11 homers and 67 RBIs in 128 games with Toronto and Cincinnati.

Died Former Notre Dame football player John “Jack” Zilly, who played on two national championship teams in the 1940s, has died. He was 88. Zilly was a right end on Notre Dame’s 1943 championship team. He then joined the Navy and served two years in the Pacific during World War II. He returned to school and celebrated another national title in 1946.

Investigating Southern California is investigating tailback Joe McKnight’s use of an SUV registered to a businessman. McKnight has been seen driving a 2006 Land Rover that state records indicate is registered to 47-year- old Scott Schenter, the Los Angeles Times reported in a story posted on its Web site Friday night. McKnight told the paper that he has never driven the SUV and it belongs to his girlfriend’s boss. USC is already being investigated by the NCAA and Pac-10 regarding accusations that running back Reggie Bush and basketball star O.J. Mayo received improper benefits during their time at the school.
