Wildcats fight off Badgers

Bonners Ferry jumped out to a 17-6 lead over Kellogg in an Intermountain League game, but the Badgers (4-3 overall, 0-1 league) couldn’t make it stand up over the visiting Wildcats (7-2, 1-0) on Saturday.

Kellogg rallied for a 33-31 win. Kellogg held the Badgers to 4-of-20 shooting after the first period.

Hayley Young made two free throws with 15 seconds left for the game-winning margin. Chelsea Morgan led Kellogg with 12 points and Erin Hiatt led the Badgers with 11.

Non-league

Coeur d’Alene 69, East Valley 36: The No. 1-ranked Vikings (10-0) overpowered the Knights (0-6) inside at EV. CdA’s 6-foot-3 post Carli Rosenthal had 22 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots. Jenni White led EV with 12 points.

Colville 61, Chewelah 34: The Indians (3-1) shut out the Cougars (0-8) 13-0 in the first quarter and never looked back at Chewelah. Jorden Brons led Colville with 15 points.

Valley Christian 67, Odessa 20: Katie Worley made 11 of 15 shots from the field, scoring 24, to lead the Panthers (3-2) past the visiting Tigers (1-5).

Bi-County 2B

Colfax 50, Lind-Ritzville 37: The Bulldogs (3-0, 2-0) made 7 of 7 free throws in the final 2 minutes to secure the win at Ritzville. Kayla Johnson led Colfax with 13 points. Andrea Bennett led L-R (1-4, 0-2) with 14.

Northwest Christian 59, Liberty 32: The Crusaders (3-4, 1-0) finished with 23 assists as they cruised past the visiting Lancers (4-1, 1-1). Colbi Neal led NWC with 17 points and Jessica Dahm had 15, including four 3-pointers.

Reardan 55, Davenport 34: The Indians (4-1, 2-0), behind Kelsey Moos’ 26 points, handled the Gorillas (3-3, 0-2) at Davenport. Miranda Mielke led the Gorillas with 10 points.

Bi-County 1B

Sprague-Harrington 48, Wilbur-Creston 23: Kayla Eagleson had a career-high 20 points, filling in for foul-plagued Lacey Hirst, as the Falcons (2-5, 1-0) topped the Wildcats (2-5, 0-1).

Panorama League 1B

Columbia 93, Inchelium 19: The Lions (7-2, 4-1) scored more than 20 points in each period, overwhelming the visiting Hornets (0-8, 0-5). Inchelium had 44 turnovers, 22 coming off of steals by the Lions. Lindsay Loe led the Lions with 23 points.

Republic 64, Northport 30: The Tigers (6-1, 4-0) outrebounded the Mustangs (2-6, 1-4) at Northport. Tori Orestad led Republic with 23 points and Shaynne Wilson scored 16 for the Mustangs.

Curlew 48, Selkirk 45: The Cougars (4-3, 2-2) made it difficult on themselves in the fourth period, making just 8 of 20 free throws in the win over the visiting Rangers (3-6, 2-3). Sabrina Charlson had a double-double for Curlew with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Daneen Green led Selkirk with 13 points.

St. George’s 48, St. Michael’s 25: The Dragons (5-1, 3-0), behind Lizzie McQuade’s 17 points, jumped to a 25-9 lead by halftime and didn’t slow down the host Warriors (0-6, 0-5).

District 9 1B

Rosalia 71, Touchet 57: Briann and Katelyn Maley combined for five 3-pointers and 39 points as the Spartans (4-3, 1-1) topped the Indians at Touchet. Briann Maley led with 21 points.

District 9 2B North

Tekoa-Oakesdale 34, Pomeroy 32: The Nighthawks (4-2, 2-0) trailed the whole game until the final 9 seconds when Desiree Chappell hit a short jumper in the win over the Pirates (1-4, 0-1) at Pomeroy.

Priest River tourney

West Valley 57, Priest River 42: Shaniqua Nilles had eight of her 15 points in the fourth quarter as the Eagles (4-0) pulled away from the Spartans (7-1) in the championship. Hannah Love led WV with 20 points. Melissa Hopkins led PR with 25 points and 10 rebounds.

Newport 59, Cusick 34: Hayley Odell scored 12 points and the Grizzlies’ pressure was too much for the Panthers (0-5) as Newport (4-2) prevailed in the third-place game. Andrea Heinen led Cusick with 21.

Lake Roosevelt tournament

Omak 67, Wellpinit 64: Mariah Priest scored with about a minute to go to put the Pioneers ahead, and a steal and basket sealed it as the Pioneers edged the Redskins to win the championship game of the tourney. Lauren Flett scored 21 points and Dani Flett 20 for Wellpinit (4-3).
