Agreement on babies’ rights

The Spokesman-Review

In his letter of Dec. 27 (“Women’s rights targeted”), Mr. Du made an unsupported hypothesis when he said that, in general, pro-life groups are anti-contraception and therefore their real agenda is to suppress women’s rights.

Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and other key leaders of the early feminist movement were anti-abortion. Opinions on contraception vary greatly; what pro-life groups agree on is opposing abortion because it kills babies.

Abortion is far too often used worldwide as a tool for sex selection, oppressing women and creating a dangerous gender imbalance in much of Asia. Check out Feminists for Life at www.feministsforlife.org for pro-woman and pro-life initiatives reaching out to young women in our communities and college campuses.
