Soldiers arrested in robbery of UW students

SEATTLE – Seattle police have arrested two Fort Lewis soldiers for investigation of robbery and assault in attacks on three University of Washington students in Seattle.

According to police, detectives arrested the two male soldiers on Tuesday at the base south of Tacoma, after an investigation aided by the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division.

Detective Jeff Kappel identified the two as Chad Braden, 19, of Atlanta, and Robert Lucas, 20, of Nashville, Tenn. He said they were active duty soldiers but did not know their rank. They were booked into the King County Jail.

The students were assaulted Jan. 17. Two of the students were pistol-whipped and robbed. A third student was threatened with a firearm.
