Chris Osgood made 23 saves for his 49th career shutout, and the Red Wings beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-0 at Columbus, Ohio, to become the first team in NHL history to top 100 points in nine straight seasons.

“Obviously, to set an NHL record, it’s phenomenal,” coach Mike Babcock said. “I’ve only been part of it for four years, (but I’m) proud of the fact that for four years we’ve been over the century mark.”

Babcock coached the Spokane Chiefs from 1994-2000.

The Red Wings broke a tie with Montreal (1974-75 through 1981-82) for the NHL mark for consecutive 100-point seasons.

•Avery leads Rangers: Sean Avery scored two power-play goals and drew a pair of penalties in his most effective game of the season to lead the Rangers to a 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers at New York.

Nik Antropov also scored a man-advantage goal for the Rangers, who matched their season high with three power-play tallies on nine chances, giving the Rangers their fifth win in nine games (5-3-1) since John Tortorella replaced fired coach Tom Renney.

Mannino stops Blackhawks: Peter Mannino made 40 saves in his first NHL start and defenseman Mark Streit had two power-play goals and an assist, leading the New York Islanders to a 4-2 win over the Blackhawks at Chicago. Mannino, making just his second appearance, was impressive as Chicago outshot the Islanders 42-19.

Hat trick for Kunitz: Chris Kunitz scored twice in 18 seconds early in the third period during a three-goal game, Petr Sykora got the game-winner later in the period and the Penguins gained a valuable victory in the Eastern Conference race, beating Boston 6-4 at Pittsburgh.

Matt Barnes, another former Warriors player, added 20 points and a career-high 11 assists as the Suns ended a five-game losing streak on the road and a four-game skid. Leandro Barbosa added 21 points and Jared Dudley and Steve Nash each had 11.

Monta Ellis scored 26 points and Corey Maggette added 21 for the Warriors, as Golden State was officially eliminated from playoff contention.

Lakers hold off Mavs: Kobe Bryant scored 28 points, Trevor Ariza had a career-high 26, and the Lakers squandered a big lead before taking control late in a 107-100 victory over the Dallas Mavericks at Los Angeles.

Bucks deny Boston: Charlie Villanueva scored 11 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter, and the Bucks held off Boston 86-77 at Milwaukee.

The Celtics’ Kendrick Perkins scored a career-high 26 points with 12 rebounds, but had little help from anybody else as Milwaukee denied the defending champions a chance to clinch their second straight Atlantic Division crown.

Cavs keep winning at home: Mo Williams scored 23 points, LeBron James added 19 and the Cavaliers opened a crucial stretch of home games by beating the New York Knicks 98-93 at Cleveland.

Double-double drives Magic: Dwight Howard had 28 points and 20 rebounds, leading the Magic over the weary Utah Jazz 105-87 at Orlando, Fla., for their third straight victory.

The Magic (49-17) closed within a half-game of the Boston Celtics (50-17) for the No. 2 seed in the upcoming playoffs.

•Sixers stifle Wade: Andre Iguodala scored 21 points, seldom-used Donyell Marshall got his 10 points in the fourth quarter the 76ers beat Miami 85-77 at Philadelphia.

Dwyane Wade, coming off a 50-point performance in a triple-overtime victory over Utah on Saturday, was held to 18. The NBA’s leading scorer looked tired after playing a career-high 52 1/2 minutes against the Jazz.

Hawks win fifth straight: Joe Johnson scored 35 points, Josh Smith had 19 points and eight rebounds, and the Hawks beat Portland 98-80 at Atlanta for their fifth consecutive victory.

Brandon Roy finished with 29 points for the Blazers.

Grizzlies end streak: Mike Conley scored 20 points and Darko Milicic added a double-double against his former team as the Memphis Grizzlies ended a seven-game losing streak to Detroit with an 89-84 win at Auburn Hills, Mich.

Cutler, McDaniels meet

Jay Cutler finally met face-to-face with Josh McDaniels over the weekend at Englewood, Colo., but nothing was resolved, leading to doubt the quarterback will show up for the new coach’s first team meeting today.

The Denver Broncos’ coach and Pro Bowl quarterback, who are involved in a simmering feud over trade talks, met Saturday at the team’s training facility, and both sides agreed to regroup and continue conversations.

But the Broncos insist they’re not going to trade Cutler, who just played in his first Pro Bowl.
