Pedestrian killed in downtown Sandpoint
A man died after being hit by a car in downtown Sandpoint Thursday afternoon.
Anthony J. Joerger died at a hospital after being struck in a crosswalk at 5th and Cedar by a 1991 Ford F250 driven by Mark H. McElroy, 49, of Athol, according to Idaho State Police.
Joerger was crossing 5th street from east to west when McElroy turned south onto 5th from Cedar. McElroy had stopped at the intersection and didn’t see Joerger crossing, according to the state police.
The crash is under investigation, police said.
