Lewiston thumps Lakeland
Nicole Redd and Savannah Blinn scored 15 points apiece Saturday and Lewiston’s girls basketball team (2-1) held Lakeland (1-2) to no more than five points in any one quarter for a 63-14 win at the Bengal Shootout in Lewiston.
In earlier action at the Bengal Shootout, Lapwai (4-0) outscored Moscow (0-4) 25-13 in the second half to upend the Bears 57-37. Abigail Quinnett led the Bears with 12 points, while Latisha Phillips scored 19 for Lapwai.
•Lakeside (ID) Tournament: Shaina Gustafson scored 24 points, including six consecutive free throws in the second quarter, to help Clark Fork blow its game open against Lakeside for a 35-19 victory in the third-place game at Plummer. … In the championship game, Wallace beat Mullan 33-30.
•Non-league: Hailey Payne’s layup with 19 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter gave Bonners Ferry (2-0) its first lead against the Post Falls junior varsity, and the host Badgers came from behind to win 44-42. Payne finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds while Markayle Acord led all scorers with 18 for the Badgers.
