Boys choir to sing at St. John’s

The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., will host the Northwest Boychoir today at 7:30 p.m.

The 70-member choir from Seattle will perform in Spokane as part of its Spring 2010 Eastern Washington Concert Tour. The performance will include classical choral works such as “Chichester Psalms” by Leonard Bernstein and “Gloria” by Rutter.

The choir has a membership of more than 200 singers between the ages of 6 and 18. The touring members range in age from 10 to 18 and include sopranos, tenors, altos and basses.

Donations to benefit Crosswalk will be accepted.

Flower festival

The Spokane Buddhist Temple, 927 S. Perry St., will present Hanamatsuri, a flower festival that is celebrated in April in Buddhist temples all over the world, Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

The service, presided over by Rev. Bob Oshita of the Sacramento Temple, celebrates the birth of Siddhartha Gautama, who later became known as Buddha.

The temple will be decorated with fresh flower arrangements.

Oshita will present a lecture, “Buddhism and Jodo Shinshu for Dummies,” Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Events at Unity

The Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard St., will present the Unity Players tonight at 7. The show includes laughter, music and surprises.

Treats will be served during intermission.

The cost to attend is a suggested donation of $10, but donations of any amount will be accepted.

The church also will present “Allowing Healing, Expanding Well-Being” Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Healing practitioner Mary Willard will lead the group. Donations will be accepted.

Movie night

Knox Presbyterian Church, 806 W. Knox Ave., will present the movie, “The Princess Bride” Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the church’s fellowship hall.

There will be hot dogs, popcorn and juice provided.
