Colfax fire destroys downtown cabinet shop

Fire on Tuesday destroyed a cabinet shop in Colfax, but firefighters prevented spread of the fire to adjoining buildings on the north side of the city. The roof collapsed into Mitz’s Cabinets in the 12:15 p.m. fire that forced closure of the Main Street highway route through the center of Colfax, fire officials said. Thirty-five firefighters in nine rigs responded to the blaze, including adjoining fire agencies from Pullman and Whitman County. Two ladder trucks were on the scene. A cause of the fire had not been determined.
