In brief: Meals on Wheels receives $500 ‘Share the Love’ grant

SPOKANE VALLEY – Valley Meals on Wheels was recently awarded $500 from the Meals on Wheels Association of America/Subaru “Share the Love” grant program. The grant was awarded based upon a winning essay, describing how Valley Meals on Wheels’ staff and volunteers went above and beyond expectations to help a meal recipient survive the 2008 record winter.

Valley Meals on Wheels has entered the next phase of the holiday competition, which relies on getting the most Facebook users to “Like” the essay. Winning this phase of the competition could earn an additional $500. Valley Meals on Wheels would use the money to provide meals to Spokane Valley’s elderly neighbors.

The “Share the Love” event runs through Jan. 3. To “Like” the essay, visit www.mowaablog.org and search “Valley Meals on Wheels.”
