Zip Trip store robbed at gunpoint overnight

A clerk at a Zip Trip convenience store in Spokane Valley was held up at gunpoint this morning by a man who fled with a small amount of money, police said. The employee said he was working in a back cooler about 2:30 a.m. when he heard the entry door chime go off. He went out to the main part of the store at 15504 E. Fourth Ave. and was confronted by the robber, who was armed with a black handgun. The robber tossed the clerk a plastic bag and ordered him to fill it with money from the till. He then ran out of the store headed south. A K-9 team was unable to track the robber beyond a nearby apartment complex. The robber was white, in his early 20s, 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds. He was wearing a black ski mask, black gloves, black pants and a black coat over a white shirt. The coat was described as “puffy.” Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
