Spokane firefighter celebrating 45th year on force

Spokane firefighter Lt. Jack Greenamyer is celebrating his 45th anniversary on the city’s fire force today, a union official said. Greenamyer is working out of Station No. 3 at 1713 W. Indiana Ave., which firefighters said is the busiest station in the state of Washington, according to John Griffith, information director for Local 29 of the firefighter union. “The guys here are great firefighters and dedicated to their jobs,” said Greenamyer, who is married and has four children and three stepchildren, all adults. He graduated from Rogers High School. Greenamyer, 67, joined the city force in 1965 and has been an eyewitness to the history of Spokane but hasn’t slowed down, Griffith said. When a call goes out, “he’s the first guy on the truck,” Griffith said. A party is planned at the station at 2 p.m.
