No phone conversation is worth drivers’ lives

Kenya Griffen Special to the Voices

I am writing to inform cell phone users of the problems they can cause while talking on the cell phone while driving.

For one thing, there is a law banning the use of talking on your handheld cell phone while driving. What is so important that you need to talk on the phone while driving?

A few weeks ago I was almost in an automobile accident when the driver of another automobile suddenly swerved into my lane, causing me to have to suddenly hit my brakes, all because he was on the phone. And, what makes it worse is that it was at night time and it was also raining, which could have caused a bad accident.

Please pull over to the side of the road if you know that you need to make a phone call or text someone, or pull into somewhere that is safe.

There are other motorists out there who are trying to abide by the law and safely drive their vehicles without killing someone. If you choose not to follow the law, something more severe may happen that could have been avoided if you would have just chosen to follow the law and safely drive your vehicle as the law states.
